AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. 21-Year-Old Man Suffering Autism Drowns after Jumping into Pool

Homicide Squad detectives report the accidental death of a male during an incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 4:04 pm in Manhasset.

Manhasset, NY - August 2, 2016 - Homicide Squad detectives report the accidental death of a male during an incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 4:04 pm in Manhasset.

According to detectives, a 21 year old male, who suffered from autism, while on the playground area with other roommates of the Nassau County Children’s Services Housing facility, 21 The Terrace, Manhasset, climbed over a PVC fence and entered the private property of a Plandome Road residence which is adjacent to the facilities playground. While on the property, the 21 year old then jumped into a built in pool and was found minutes later at the bottom by the facility staff. After jumping into the pool, bringing him to the surface and beginning CPR, 911 was called.

Upon police and ambulance arrival, the victim was transported to an area hospital to continue life saving measures.

At 5:00 pm the 21 year old was pronounced deceased by a staff physician.
