Shirley Man Dies After Suffering Gunshot Wound to Leg and Crashing Vehicle

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a man who was found with a gunshot wound after crashing his vehicle.
 
Daniel Johnston was driving a 2021 Chevrolet southbound in the northbound lanes of William Floyd Parkway when his vehicle struck a pole and fence at approximately 8 p.m. on August 2. 
 
When first responders arrived, they discovered Johnston had a gunshot wound to his leg.
 
Johnston, 32, of 122 Manor Drive, Shirley, was transported by Mastic Beach Ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
