Suffolk County Police today arrested a Queens woman after she left two dogs in a locked car with the windows rolled up and not running in a Manorville parking lot.

Two dogs were left unattended in a 2010 Acura MDX that was not running with the windows closed in the parking lot of 460 County Road 111. A person observed the dogs in the vehicle and called 911 at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Seventh Precinct officers responded as well as a paramedic from Manorville Community Ambulance. The paramedic broke the window and removed the dogs from the vehicle. The dogs, a 3-year-old female Labrador named Princess and an 8-year-old male Bichon Poodle named Ridgley, were unharmed.

The driver of the vehicle, Maria Chojncka, 60, of Middle Village, who was taking care of the dogs for their owner, was charged with two counts of Confinement of Companion Animal in Vehicle: Extreme Temps. She was issued a Field Appearance Ticket and scheduled for arraignment at a later date.

The owner was notified.
