Mt. Sinai, NY, August 2013 –The New York League of Conservation Voters, which is dedicated to making environmental sustainability a top priority in New York State, has announced its endorsement of Sarah Anker for Legislator in the 6th District in Suffolk County.

Anker has demonstrated her commitment and dedication to the environment through her leadership and advocacy.  As an active member of the County’s Environment, Planning and Agriculture committee, she has authored numerous bills including the tax exemption for commercial solar installation, banning the use of coal tar-based seal coat, and secured the preservation of thousands of acres of land against development.  Recently named to a newly formed ground water oversight commission, Anker continues to advocate for the protection of Long Island’s aquifer against nitrates, pesticides and pollutants.

Formerly, the energy director for the Town of Brookhaven, Anker brings innovative ideas to the County that will streamline and promote renewable energy programs.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement and support of the League of Conservation Voters,” Anker said. “I strongly feel that the environment directly affects our health and the health of our children. I’m proud to be recognized by an organization that remains on the forefront of the protection of our environment.”

The New York League of Conservation Voters was founded in 1989 as a nonpartisan, policy making and political action organization that works to make environmental protection a top priority with elected officials, decision makers, and voters by evaluating incumbent performance and endorsing and electing environmental leaders to office in New York State.
