The quiz reinforces the messages behind NFPA’s annual awareness campaign, Fire Prevention Week, and its 2014 theme, “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives:  Test Yours Every Month!”

The 2014 Fire Prevention Week Quiz is available online August 1 through October 25, and includes 12 questions on smoke alarm safety and information. This fun, interactive resource lets families see how well-prepared they are for an emergency. Quiz-takers can review their results and compare them with others via Twitter and Facebook.

This year, Fire Prevention Week informs the public about the importance of testing their smoke alarms every month. Unfortunately, many home fire deaths result from fires where a smoke alarm is present but does not operate. Working smoke alarms help save lives by giving people time to get out safely from a home fire.
