SCPD Investigating Shooting of Teen in Wheatley Heights

Wheatley Heights, NY - August 5th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a Wheatley Heights man early this evening.

Leoford Murray, 19, was walking on Lake Drive and Mount Avenue in Wyandanch when he was shot in the leg by an unknown suspect in a dark-colored vehicle that had pulled up alongside him at 5:15 p.m.

Murray was transported via Wyandanch Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
