Cops: Two Queens Village Men Arrested After Brazenly Stealing Watch Worth Over $275K from Greenvale Jeweler

The Major Case Squad reports the arrest of two Queens Village males for Grand Larceny that occurred on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 3:15 pm in Greenvale.
 
According to Detectives, two unknown male subjects entered Loucri Jewelers located at 55 Northern Boulevard, where the subjects acted in concert, distracted the salesperson and then concealed a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak custom diamond watch valued at $275,325.00 USC. The two subjects then fled scene in a grey Ford Edge. 
 
After an extensive investigation, Defendants Petru Magdas, 49, of 217-30 Hollis Avenue and Petru Munteanu, 28, of 217-30 Hollis Avenue were both located and placed under arrest on Thursday, August 1, 2024 without incident. The Audemar Piguet Royal Oak watch was recovered at scene. No injuries were reported. 
 
Defendant Munteanu was apprehended by United States Border Patrol on December 28, 2021 and processed as an expedited removal from the United States but has yet to be placed into removal proceedings. Defendant Magdas has two previous removals from the United States in 2017 and 2018. It is unknown when he illegally re-entered the United States.
 
 Defendant Petru Magdas and Defendant Petru Munteanu are charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree. They were arraigned on Friday, August 2, 2024 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead. Defendant Munteanu was release with no bail and did not return for an electronic GPS. Defendant Magdas is being held on an outstanding warrant.
