Mystery in Moriches: Police Investigating Injured, Unconscious Man Found in Roadway, Requests Public's Help
Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident during which a man was found unconscious in the road in Moriches early in the morning of Monday, August 5.
Seventh Precinct officers responded to Montauk Highway, near Louis Avenue, at approximately 4:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported an unconscious man lying in the road.
The man, John Ballard, 30, of Mastic, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on how the man was injured to call Major Case Unit detectives at 631-852-6555.
