After first breaking ground back in January 2020, TopGolf has finally opened its first location on Long Island. TopGolf is situated on a 27-acre site between Zebra Technologies to the west and Cheap Sam’s nursery to the east on the north service road in Holtsville.
TopGolf describes itself on its website as a game that anyone can play.
“Score points by hitting microchipped golf balls at giant dartboard-like targets on an outfield. The closer you get your ball to the centre or ‘bullseye’ and the further the distance, the more points earned.”
The state-of-the-art arcade style play is what attracts both golfers and non-golfers to the venue and includes more than 100 climate-controlled hitting bays, a full-service restaurant, over 200 HDTVs, rooftop terrace, private event spaces and meeting rooms.
The grand opening happened on July 26, where local officials, business leaders and golf enthusiasts were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
According to a Town of Brookhaven press release, TopGolf is expected to provide more than 500 jobs in the community and will offer year-round golf lessons, taught by a professional, that range in packages specially designed by age and skill-level. TopGolf venues entertain more than 20 million guests annually at nearly 60 locations across the U.S. and internationally.
Online reviews are overwhelmingly positive as patrons have been waiting for TopGolf to open on Long Island for years.
On Yelp, Javon E, from Shoreham, was excited to have TopGolf open.
“There isn't much to say really; Topgolf no matter where you go will be a super enjoyable experience,” he wrote. “I for one am probably the worst golfer in my friend group, and still have a great time!”
