Woman Arrested at Nassau Legislative Building After Allegedly Being Disorderly, Injuring Police Officer

The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Centereach woman for an incident that occurred on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 6:30 pm in Mineola.
 
According to Detectives, Police responded to a disturbance at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building located at 1550 Franklin Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were informed that an individual was becoming disorderly and was asked to exit the facility. While escorting the attendee off premise, defendant Maria Campanelli, 26, of 3 White Birch Drive did intentionally intervene in an effort to prohibit officers from performing their duties. 
 
After multiple warnings were issued, officers attempted to place the defendant into custody. The defendant became noncompliant and deliberately caused an officer to trip and fall injuring his knees and wrist. The defendant was placed under arrest and the officer was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment. 
 
No other injuries were reported. 
 
Defendant Maria Campanelli is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration. She will be arraigned on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
