AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Nassau Authorities Rescue Missing Jet Skier and Paddle Boarder in Woodmere

The jet skier was found in the vicinity of the Woodmere Yacht Club; a paddle boarder attempted a rescue but became stuck in the marsh, cops say.

Woodmere, NY - August 7, 2017 - The Marine Bureau reports the details of a water rescue that occurred in Woodmere on Sunday, August 06, 2017 at 3:00 P.M.
 
At approximately 3:38 P.M., the Fourth Precinct, Marine Bureau and Aviation received a call for a missing jet skier in the vicinity of the Woodmere Yacht Club
 
The missing jet skier was located by Helicopter 6 in Crooked Creek. The Jet Ski operator was safe and accounted for. The Jet Ski was removed from the marsh and safely secured to a dock in Woodmere.  
 
A paddle boarder, who attempted to help in the rescue had to be rescued by Helicopter 6 off of the marsh and was transported to the Woodmere Yacht Club.
 
No injuries were reported.
