Holtsville, NY - August 7, 2017 - Cailin MacQuarrie, a 2017 graduate of Babylon Junior-Senior High School, is the winner of the $5,000 Road to Safety Scholarship sponsored by Long Island-based personal injury law firm Rosenberg & Gluck, LLP to raise awareness on distracted driving and advocate road safety. Hundreds of Long Island high school students shared their stories, essays, and creative presentations with hopes of winning the 2017 Road to Safety Scholarship.
In her touching and impactful essay, Cailin shared a personal story of a family tragedy that was caused by a distracted driver and how it has affected her as a young driver.
The statistics are harrowing. Every day in the United States, over eight people are killed and 1,161 injured in crashes that involve a distracted driver, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“Distracted driving poses a serious safety hazard for young drivers across the United States and the personal injury lawyers on our team constantly see first-hand the devastation it can cause,” said Partner Ted Rosenberg. “We established this scholarship as we advocate for road safety and spread the message about the dangers of texting and driving.”
Cailin will be using her scholarship as she continues her studies at Boston College.
As one of Long Island’s best personal injury law firms, Rosenberg & Gluck is known for results. The firm boasts over 100 years of combined experience and knowledge with a long track record of success.
