Motorcyclist Arrested for DWI after Being Seriously Injured in Crash, SCPD Reports

Central Islip, NY - August 7, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives last night arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he crashed his motorcycle into another vehicle in Central Islip.
 
Edwin Maldonado was operating a Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on Wheeler Road near Motor Parkway when the motorcycle struck a 2013 Jeep Wrangler as it was exiting a parking lot making a left turn onto Wheeler Road at approximately 8:40 p.m.
 
Maldonado, 33, of Bay Shore, was transported by Central Islip Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Jeep, Richard Wagner, 50, of New Jersey was not injured.
 
Maldonado was arrested and charged with DWI and Driving with a Suspended License. He will be arraigned at a later date.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
