On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 4:15 am, the State Police responded to a call for a one-car motor vehicle collision on the Southern State Parkway westbound in the area of exit 20 in the town of Hempstead, Nassau County.

The driver, 18 years-old, was traveling westbound on the Southern State Parkway when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the bridge embankment.  The driver was injured and taken to Nassau University Medical Center and front seat passenger, 18 years-old, was also injured and taken to Winthrop Hospital.  Back seat passenger, 18 years-old, died of injuries at the scene. 

This collision is under investigation and the State Police is asking for witnesses or anyone with any information to call (631) 756-3300.
