Officials: Chain-Snatching Mineola Man Busted by Police After Allegedly Victimizing 15-Year-Old Boy

The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Mineola man for a Robbery that occurred on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:30 pm in East Williston Park.
 
According to detectives, a male victim, 15, was walking through the Long Island Railroad parking lot, located at 447 Sagamore Avenue. Two unknown male subjects approached the victim from behind and grabbed his shirt while removing his gold chain. The subjects fled on foot.
 
Subsequent to the investigation, officers located Defendant Dani Akhtar, 18, of 92 Charles Street, in the Long Island Railroad parking lot and placed him under arrest without further incident. No injuries were reported.
 
Defendant Akhtar is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree and Grand Larceny 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
Subject two, who was not apprehended, is described as a male white, thin build, 18-25 years of age, approximately 6’0” tall, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with white letters on the back, white shirt and black pants. The investigation is ongoing.
