AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Mangano To Host Field Of Honor At The Theodore Roosevelt Building

Honoring Veterans Who Have Served in the United States Armed Forces.

Mineola, NY - August 7th, 2013 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano is hosting the Field of Honor to recognize veterans who have served in the United States of America Armed Forces. Community members can purchase flags to honor veterans with a flag that will be displayed at the Theodore Roosevelt Building.

“The Field of Honor gives members of the community the opportunity to pay tribute to loved ones who have given the ultimate sacrifice of protecting our freedom and our country by serving in the United States Armed Forces,” said County Executive Mangano.

Flags can be purchased for $35. Payments can be made by writing a check to “Friends of Nassau Recreation” and sent to: “Attn: Flags of Honor, Eisenhower Park Administration Building, 1899 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow, NY 11554.”

Upon purchase the flags will be placed in the Field of Honor, alongside the Theodore Roosevelt Building, located at 1550 Franklin Avenue, Mineola, NY 11501, beginning in October and ending in November. For more information please call: (631) 337-1603.
