Authorities: Man found Unconscious in Mastic Roadway Following Electric Skateboard Accident Passes Away
According to Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives, John Ballard, who was found unconscious in the roadway on Montauk Highway in Moriches on August 5, died of his injuries on August 7.
On August 5, Seventh Precinct officers responded to Montauk Highway, near Louis Avenue, at approximately 4:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported Ballard, 30, lying unconscious in the road.
Ballard, of Mastic, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries; he passed away two days later.
An investigation by Major Case Unit detectives determined Ballard was operating an electric skateboard in Moriches when he fell, causing his injuries.
