Man Arrested for Stabbing Death in Baywood

Baywood, NY - August 9th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Baywood man for fatally stabbing a man in Baywood last night.

Third Precinct police officers were called to a home at 23 Lincoln Avenue in Baywood after a tenant reported that a man had been stabbed. When police arrived, they found Luis Gomez, a resident of the home, lying in a side yard with a stab wound to his chest. Residents of the home told police that Gomez was stabbed when he intervened during an argument between two brothers who lived at the home. Gomez, 22, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he died. 

One of the brothers, Edwin Ramirez, 24, was arrested at the scene and charged with Manslaughter 1st Degree. Ramirez will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 10. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
