AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Mangano: Now Accepting Entries For The Annual Blue Ribbon Contest For The Long Island Fair

Old Bethpage, NY - August 7, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that entries for the Annual Blue Ribbon Contest at the Long Island Fair are now being accepted.

Artisans, craft-makers, botanists, gardeners and overall Long Island Fair enthusiasts are invited to plan their entry for the Annual Blue Ribbon contest at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration, which takes place this year on September 25th - 27th and October 2nd – 4th. The deadline for entry forms for Advanced and Poetry is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4th; all other entries are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11th.

As has been the custom each year, you’re invited to enter your handcrafts, original art work, needlework, produce, floral arrangements, models, doll houses and culinary delights into the 6-day event and vie for the “best in class” prize.

The entry drop-off guidelines are as follows:
• Hobbies & Needlework entries can be brought in Sunday, September 20th from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. or Monday September 21st 8:00am-6:30pm
• Flowers, Fruits, Vegetables, & Culinary products can be brought in Thursday, September 24th between 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
• Horses can be brought in on Thursday, September 24th between 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m., or on Friday, September 25th between 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
• Culinary delights may also be dropped off on Friday, September 25th between 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
• Rabbits and Guinea Pigs can be brought in on Thursday, October 1st between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
