Police on the Hunt for Wine and Liquor Store Robbers, Owner of Store Dragged Outside of Moving Vehicle Approximately 20 Feet
North Bellmore, NY - August 9, 2016 - The First Squad reports the details of a Robbery that occurred on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 6:33 p.m. in North Bellmore.
According to detectives, three male black subjects entered Newbridge Wine and Liquors, located at 1377 Newbridge Road and began to conceal assorted liquor bottles on their person. They then exited the store and placed the bottles in a 2015 Toyota Corolla parked out front. The store owner, a 69 year old male, approached the defendants outside the store and told them to stop. One subject, heavy set, fled on foot, while the remaining two subjects entered the vehicle. The victim attempted to prevent them from fleeing by reaching in thru the passenger side of the car to remove the keys from the ignition. The driver, identified as Jamik Q. Cannon, 23 of Hempstead, placed the car in reverse causing the victim to lose his balance and be dragged approximately twenty feet. While being dragged the victim removed his legally licensed hand gun from his holster and fired the weapon, striking Cannon in the right shoulder. Cannon and the passenger fled on foot northbound on Newbridge Road. Detectives located Cannon at a local hospital where he was placed under arrest. The investigation is continuing.

Cannon is charged with Robbery 3rd degree, Robbery 2nd degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, and Petit Larceny. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
