Uniondale, NY - August 9, 2018 - Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) hosted the 35th Annual National Night Out in Uniondale on August 7th. He was joined by Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, local law enforcement, Uniondale Fire Department Firefighters, community leaders and residents.
Each year, communities across the Nation come together to encourage police and community partnerships in an effort to fight crime. National Night Out is an opportunity for communities and local law enforcement to connect in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
“Every year, National Night Out gives the residents we serve an opportunity to enjoy a summer night with their neighbors, first responders and community leaders,” Legislator Abrahams said. “It is always a pleasure to host this event and provide a venue for new relationships to blossom and community-building to thrive.”
“National Night Out is an important opportunity for the Nassau County Police Department to strengthen its bonds and build new community relationships to better serve residents across Nassau County,” stated Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.
Attractions included face painting, bounce houses, free food, giveaways, games, and music provided by KG Group Entertainment & MidaMusik. Children also got the opportunity to interact with Sparky the robotic fire dog, McGruff the Crime Dog, explore law enforcement vehicles, and fire engines. Residents were able to meet with over 40 vendors and agencies in Nassau County for assistance with health care, financial services, community organizations, as well as legal and governmental services.
