New Jersey Man Busted with Knives, Counterfeit Money, Drugs, Ammo, Police Badge & Uniforms During LI Traffic Stop

The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a New Jersey man for Criminal Possession of Controlled Substances and Weapons that occurred on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11:45 p.m. in Oceanside.
 
According to Detectives, Officers conducted a Lawful Vehicle Traffic stop in the vicinity of Merrick Road and Oceanside Road. Upon further investigation, defendant Joseph Zuziela, 43, of 93 N Branch River Road, was arrested without incident. Officers recovered law enforcement paraphernalia including: handcuffs, a gold badge, and multiple police uniforms. 
 
The defendant was also in possession of a metal baton, metal knuckles, metal knuckle knives, counterfeit money, miscellaneous gun parts, ammunition, a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, glassine envelopes containing a tan powdery substance believed to be heroin, a red liquid substance believed to be methadone, and assorted pills believed to be dextroamphetamine. 
 
The defendant has an open arrest warrant out of Somerset County, New Jersey for which he will be extradited.
 
Defendant Zuziela is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, and an Arrest Warrant: Fugitive from Justice. He will be arraigned on Friday, August 9, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
