Police Car Struck on Long Island Expressway While Officer Inside
The Public Information Office reports the details of a Vehicular Accident that
occurred on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 2:55 pm in New Hyde Park.
According to police, a Highway Patrol Officer was investigating an eastbound
vehicular accident in the vicinity of Exit 36. While seated in has patrol car with the
emergency lights activated, a 2012 Isuzu truck was travelling eastbound and collided with the back of the officer’s vehicle.
The officer suffered injuries to his neck and back. He was transported to an
area hospital for treatment and evaluation.
The male operator, 63, remained at the scene and was not injured. The Isuzu
went through a brake and safety check.
The investigation is ongoing.
