Written by Chris Boyle  |  13. August 2024

The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets will host open call auditions for their entertainment teams - Long Island Nets Kids Dance Team and Long Island Nets Dance Team - ahead of the 2024-25 NBA G League season.

Both entertainment teams perform at Long Island Nets home games at Nassau Coliseum and also serve as ambassadors, representing the organization at events and appearances in the Long Island community.

Auditions for the Kids Dance Team will take place on Friday, Aug. 23 at the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury, NY. Auditions are open to boys and girls ages 6-15 with at least two years of dance training. Registration for auditions begins at 5 p.m. and all dancers must arrive by 5:30 p.m. to audition. A parent or legal guardian must be present at registration to sign a participation waiver as pre-registration is not available.

The Kids Dance Team was launched during the 2017-18 NBA G League season and is operated under the leadership of Head Coach Christy R. Tolbert. Tolbert is a native of Long Island, graduated from Long Island High School for Performing Arts (BOCES), and trained at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Broadway Dance Center. She has spent the last 19 years teaching youth dance on Long Island at Venettes Cultural Workshop, Milton L. Olive Middle School, and the Bayshore School District, among others.

The Long Island Nets Dance Team open call auditions will take place on Sunday, Aug. 25 at the Yes We Can Community Center. Auditions are open to dancers 18 and over with at least one year of advanced dance training. Registration for auditions will begin at 10 a.m. and all dancers must arrive by 10:30 a.m. to audition.

The Long Island Nets Dance Team held its inaugural season last year and is led by Head Coach Kristen Greto, who is returning for a second season in the role. Greto joined the organization after spending six years as a former captain and team member of the Brooklynettes, the official dance team of the Brooklyn Nets. In addition to her role with the Long Island Nets, Greto is the head coach of the Long Island University Dance Team, where she led the squad to their first-ever consecutive National Championship win in the Open Spirit Game Day category during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
