With summer inching toward its close and Back to School season coming into focus, Sid Jacobson JCC is thrilled to once again collaborate with Supplies for Success to “Give Back With a Backpack” on Monday, August 19, from 10-11:30am.

For nearly a decade, Supplies for Success has generously provided hundreds of new backpacks and school supplies for Sid Jacobson JCC to package and distribute to our neighbors in need.

As droves of enthusiastic volunteers turn out for an exciting day of giving back to local families, Sid Jacobson JCC anticipates serving close to 700 children this year, outfitting them with the supplies needed for a successful return to the classroom.

Supplies for Success has assisted nearly 300,000 children, annually distributing backpacks and grade-specific school supplies to underserved students from pre-K through 12th grade before the first day of school. Each year, SJJCC’s Center for Community Engagement mobilizes over 100 volunteers for this vibrant tradition, supporting the meaningful cause of helping students on Long Island.

Supplies for Success envisions an equal education for all in which no student begins the school year empty-handed, so disadvantaged children in the United States, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity, do not start behind.

"We are incredibly proud to serve as teen co-chairs of the Supplies for Success annual backpack event,” said Jordan Buslik and Andi Bendett, whose unwavering dedication has elevated them from volunteers to key leadership roles alongside their moms and SJJCC event co-chairs, Nicole Buslik and Liza Bendett. “We’re grateful to provide school supplies to children in need, helping them start the year with confidence and enthusiasm. Together with community participants, we can ensure that every child has the tools they need to succeed."

Supplies For Success Founder and President Mindy Richenstein echoed similar sentiments: “Partnering with Sid Jacobson JCC over the years has not only allowed us to equip children with the essential tools needed to learn and succeed in school, but also plays a crucial role in addressing the second part of our mission -- empowering volunteers to make it all possible.”

A donation of $27 grants a child a new backpack filled with essential supplies. All donations are welcome at the following link. Please consider supporting as many children as you can.
