Hempstead Man Arrested for Killing Mother, Sister, Friend with Hammer, Authorities Report

NCPD reports the arrest of Bobby Vanderhall, 34, in connection with a Homicide that occurred in Hempstead on Saturday, August 12.

Hempstead, NY - August 14, 2017 - The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of Bobby Vanderhall, 34, of Hempstead on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Hempstead in connection with a Homicide that occurred in Hempstead on Saturday, August 12, 2017.
 
According to detectives, the defendant entered the Perry Street residence at approximately 1:15 am. He confronted the victims identified as his mother, Lynn Vanderhall, 58; his sister, Melissa Vanderhall, 29; family friend Janel Simpson, 29; and a fourth female victim, striking them all multiple times with a hammer.

Lynn Vanderhall, Melissa Vanderhall, and Janel Simpson were pronounced deceased at the scene by a Nassau County Police Medic. The fourth victim was transported to a local hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
 
Defendant Bobby Vanderhall is charged with three counts of Murder 2nd Degree and 1 count of Attempted Murder. He was arraigned in First District Court on Sunday August 13, 2017.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
