AZUREST: Oldest Black resort in the Hamptons Celebrates 75th Anniversary
Saturday August 13th was such a special day as Azurest, the oldest Black resort in the Hamptons, celebrated its’ 75th anniversary at the the Bridgehampton Community Center.
Founded by a Black business woman, Maude Terry, this month is special as Black Businesses are celebrated nationwide.
An historically African American community, more than 300 Black homeowners and residents of three generations, many 3rd and 4th generation business owners, came together to honor our Founder, as well as three nationally recognized homeowners: The Terry/Richards Family Descendants, Pulitzer prize winner, Colin Whitehead, Journalist and ABC NEWS worldwide anchor, Linsey Davis, Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook, the 1st African American and female Ambassador to serve as US Ambassador at Large for religious Freedom, the Obama Administration, and world renowned scientist, Dr. Fitzgerald Bramwell
