For the second year in a row, Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) has received a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as part of the 2022 Five-Star Quality Rating System. CMS, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, created the five-star rating system to assist consumers in identifying healthcare facilities by quality metrics. These metrics include patient outcomes such as mortality, the safety of care and readmissions, patient experience and process.

“Peconic Bay Medical Center is proud to once again receive a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services,” said Dr. Amy E. Loeb, Executive Director of Peconic Bay Medical Center. “PBMC strives to provide quality care to Eastern Suffolk County. With PBMC’s safety of care scoring nearly one-and-a-half times higher than the average score provided by CMS, this rating shows the absolute devotion our team members have to providing enhanced care to our community.”

As the largest hospital in Eastern Suffolk County, PBMC’s team of nearly 1,500 professionals work together to address the community’s full range of health and wellness needs. PBMC provides a growing range of leading-edge services and resources focused on every stage of life. With the recent announcement of the emergency department expansion increasing capacity by over 75 percent, and the opening of Northwell Health’s Shirley Multi-practice facility that will bring specialized services to the region, PBMC is continuing its mission to expand access to healthcare throughout Eastern Suffolk County.

The six other Northwell Health hospitals to receive this recognition were Huntington Hospital with a five stars rating, followed by its four-star hospitals: Glen Cove Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, and Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco.
