Child Critical After Being Found in Backyard Pool

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a child was found unconscious in a pool this afternoon.

Bay Shore, NY - August 16, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a child was found unconscious in a pool this afternoon. 

Third Precinct officers responded to 44 Krause St. at approximately 12:15 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a boy being found unconscious in an inground pool. The six-year-old-child, of Milton, Canada, was pulled out of the pool by Third Precinct Police Officer Michael Scaturro. Officer Scaturro administered CPR before personnel from Brentwood Legion Ambulance arrived.

The boy, who was visiting relatives at the home, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and later transferred to Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park in critical condition.

The investigation is continuing.
