Unhinged Elmont Man Calls for Ambulance, then Assaults Police Paramedic Treating Him, Cops Say

The Fifth Squad reports on the arrest of an Elmont man for the Assault of a Police Paramedic that occurred on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 9:30 AM in Elmont.
 
According to Detectives, a Nassau County Police Paramedic responded to the residence of defendant Joseph Reid, 29, of 281 Norfeld Boulevard who called requesting for an ambulance transport. As the Police Paramedic was assessing defendant Joseph Reid, he became irate and charged at the Police Paramedic, pushing him through a door and onto the porch landing outside. The Police Paramedic suffered severe sharp pain and injury to his left shoulder. 
 
Officers placed defendant Joseph Reid under arrest without further incident. The Police Paramedic and defendant Joseph Reid were both transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. 
 
Defendant Joseph Reid is charged with Assault 2nd degree and will be arraigned when medically practical.
