AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

The second annual 2016 Suffolk County Marathon and Half Marathon to support our veterans is on Oct. 30.

This year’s event begins and ends in the Village of Patchogue and will be followed by the Taste of Long Island Festival.

Suffolk County, NY - August 16, 2016 - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, the Suffolk County Legislature, and Catholic Health Services will be hosting the second annual 2016 Suffolk County Marathon and Half Marathon to support our veterans on Oct. 30.

With 1.5 million people and 90,000 veterans residing in Suffolk County, we are proud to host this event and we hope you can join us in honoring our local heroes. The inaugural event drew more than 3,500 runners from 25 states and four countries in 2015. This year’s event begins and ends in the Village of Patchogue and will be followed by the Taste of Long Island Festival.

The Taste of Long Island Festival will be a showcase of the rich and diverse collection of food and beverage options available across Suffolk County. The Taste of Long Island Festival will be a wonderful opportunity for your business to reach new customers, build overall brand awareness, and drive repeat visitations to Suffolk County. There will be a $100 vendor fee for a 10’x10’ lease with additional adjacent vendor spaces available for lease. All net proceeds will support veterans’ services.
