Weather Alert

AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

School of Rock Syosset/Oyster Bay and School of Rock Roslyn are owned by Monica and Gene Rubin. Monica grew up in a musically-inclined family, but found that while she did not have a talent for music, she had a passion for helping others learn. Later, when Monica and Gene’s son began playing the guitar, they found that solo lessons were not engaging him and sought out a different approach. They discovered School of Rock, where the performance-based teaching approach inspired their son to continue his musical journey. After becoming part of the School of Rock community, Monica and Gene became interested in owning their own school. They now own School of Rock Rockville Centre, School of Rock Huntington, and have recently added School of Rock Roslyn to their portfolio, which was a perfect complement to their existing locations. They are now opening their fourth location in the Syosset/Oyster Bay community.

“Whether a musician, teacher, lawyer, salesperson, president, or anything else in life, we are always on stage,” Monica Rubin commented. “Teaching our children the confidence  they need to rock the stage is a lifelong gift. Our schools are a clubhouse for our students where they can express themselves musically and be challenged by the incredible teachers we have, and I’m proud to be growing our School of Rock family.”

School of Rock provides students of all ages an exciting and engaging music lesson experience, which includes bass lessons, guitar lessons, singing lessons, drum lessons, and piano lessons. Drawing from all styles of rock and roll, School of Rock students learn theory and techniques via songs from legendary artists such as Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz, and Led Zeppelin. Thanks to the school’s performance-based approach, students around the world have gained superior musical proficiency, with some moving on to record deals and larger platforms such as American Idol, The Voice and Broadway.

"Monica and Gene are passionate about music and inspiring the next generation of young artists,” said Rob Price, CEO of School of Rock.“We are delighted to celebrate their fourth school and to see them positively impact the lives of their students throughout the community.”
