The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 12:14 a.m. in Merrick.
According to Detectives, a 19-year-old female was traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway, near the intersection with Fox Boulevard in her black, 2020 BMW when she struck a then-unknown male pedestrian who was laying on the ground in the right lane.
The male victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced. The female driver remained at scene.
The male pedestrian of the above incident has now been identified as Brandon Fortune, 34. Detectives request any family members or friends of the deceased victim to contact Homicide Squad at 516-573-7788.
The investigation is ongoing.
