When a New York City couple moved out to Huntington they went on a quest to find their new favorite take-out places. Pizza? Check. Chinese? Check. Tacos? Nope.

This was the inspiration for Tommy Taco, when Tom and Elisa combined their years of restaurant experience to bring the perfect takeout taco joint to the village. According to their website the mission of Tommy Taco is to make “fresh, delicious and authentic tasting tacos at a reasonable price.”

Tommy Taco opened on July 31.

You can choose any of the standard offerings like street tacos, quesadilla, rice bowl, or burritos filled with carne asada (steak), carnitas (pork), pulled chicken, seasonal veggies, or soyrizo (vegan chorizo). They also have specialty menu items like fish taco and a different taco of the month. You can also get a loaded Mex potato, an oversized baked potato piled high with choice of filling, melted Monterey jack cheese, chopped onions, sour cream, guacamole, and choice of salsa with a side of 2 corn or flour tortillas. See menu for individual pricing.

For sides they have tortilla chips, Mexican rice and beans (braised black or pinto), and street corn on the cob, dusted with chile seasoning and cotija cheese.

The restaurant has already taken to social media with special promotions like one they just ended where patrons could bring in a band sticker to adorn the shop and get a free chips and queso. (The offer ended on August 16.)

“Ordered takeout and the food was amazing, plus I think it was the first day they had opened,” said Carly G. of Huntington Station on Yelp. “They have lots of vegetarian options, delicious desserts and pricing was very reasonable! Will definitely be coming here more often!!”
