Three Arrested for Robbery & Kidnapping in Westbury

The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of three people for a Robbery/Kidnapping that occurred on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 6:45 PM in Westbury.
 
According to Narcotic Vice Bureau Detectives, Officers were conducting an investigation at the Edgewood Motel, located at 38 Jericho Turnpike, Jericho where they observed a 2005 red Ford F150 with four occupants exiting the parking lot and traveling westbound on Jericho Turnpike. The vehicle failed to come to a complete stop near the intersection of Cambridge Avenue and Warren Street in Westbury. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop near the intersection of Cambridge Street and Oxford Street.
 
During the investigation, Officers observed that one of the occupants, a 48-year-old male, appeared to be in distress. All four occupants were removed from the vehicle, at which point one of the backseat passengers, defendant Tylor Salmeron attempted to flee on foot. As defendant Tylor Salmeron was fleeing, he removed a large machete hidden in his shorts but threw it shortly after to the ground. Officers were able to place defendant Tylor Salmeron under arrest, in which during the process he violently resisted.
 
The driver, defendant Yonathan Hernandez and the female juvenile front seat passenger were both placed under arrest without further incident.
 
A subsequent investigation revealed that the male victim, 48, was lured to the Edgewood Motel where he was held against his will and forced to relinquish his keys, phone and money while being threatened at knife point. 
 
Defendant Yonathan Hernandez, 23, of 20 Spencer Place, Hempstead is charged with Robbery 1 st Degree, Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Conspiracy 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and a VTL Infraction.
 
Defendant Tylor Salmeron, 19, of 166 Hopper Street, New Cassel, is charged with Robbery 1 st Degree, Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Conspiracy 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4 th Degree and Resisting Arrest.
 
The 16-year-old female juvenile defendant is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Kidnapping 2 nd Degree, Conspiracy 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. Further investigation revealed that she also had an active PINS arrest warrant. All three defendants will be arraigned on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
