Suffolk Sheriff’s Office to Hold Graduation Ceremony for 47 New Correction Officers

On Tuesday, August 23 at 11:00 AM the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a graduation ceremony for 47 new Correction Officers at the Van Nostrand Theatre on the campus of Suffolk County Community College. The class is the largest Correction class since 2019. 
 
The event will take place at the Van Nostrand Theatre at 1001 Crooked Hill Rd, Brentwood, NY.
 
The Correction Officers spent the last 13 weeks in a rigorous training program that included instruction in security and supervision, defensive tactics, legal issues, implicit bias training, essential services, chemical weapons and firearms, role play, and more. These officers join a force consisting of 841 Correction Officers working in the Suffolk County Correctional Facility.
 
During the ceremony, several awards will be presented to the members of the graduating classes including Sheriff Toulon’s Award for Academic Excellence.
 
Notable graduates include;
 
  • Former intern of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office
  • Father of current Correction Officer (son graduated in 2021 class, father is current graduate)
  • Graduates ranging from 21 years old to 51 years old
  • Additional graduates with corrections and law enforcement family members
