Hempstead, NY - August 23, 2018 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm in Hempstead.
According to detectives, officers, while on routine patrol, observed a grey 2018 Nissan Maxima blocking a red 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in the vicinity of Front Street and Hempstead Avenue. As officers approached the scene, they witnessed a male striking the driver of the Tahoe multiple times with a closed fist. Officers subdued the male and began to investigate.
It was determined the two men were involved in a verbal disagreement over a parking condition while at Dunkin Donuts at 1 Front Street. The victim, a 78 year old male attempted to drive away. The defendant followed in his Nissan and was able to block the victims Tahoe with his vehicle. At this point, the defendant began to strike the victim and forcibly removed victim’s keys from the vehicle. During the investigation, Officers recovered a hand gun, a shotgun, 2 loaded high capacity magazines and marijuana from the defendant’s vehicle. The victim suffered a laceration on his head but refused medical attention.
Defendant Edward Doe Jr., 34, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Robbery 3rd Degree, three (3) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. He will be arraigned on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
