Twenty-Five Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff Recruits Sworn In

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office held a swearing in ceremony for twenty-five new Deputy Sheriff Recruits on Wednesday, August 21, at the Yaphank Correctional Facility. The class consists of 20 males and 5 females with 6 former Correction Officers, 1 former NYPD Officers and 1 Park Ranger.   

These new Deputy Sheriff Recruits will begin a rigorous six-month training program that includes instruction in firearms, emergency vehicle operations (EVOC), EMT training, and individualized field training. The recruits will graduate in May, joining a force consisting of 258 Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs.

Sheriff Toulon welcomed the new deputies to the Sheriff’s Office, reminding them that “starting today you now hold a position of authority in Suffolk County and must take the commitment to protect and serve our residents very seriously as it is a great responsibility.”
