AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

Buses Replace Trains Between Huntington & Port Jefferson Weekend of August 29 and 30 for Track Work

Buses will replace trains between Port Jefferson and Huntington over the weekend of Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 as the Long Island Rail Road performs rail grinding work on that stretch of track.

Huntington, NY - August 25, 2015 - Buses will replace trains between Port Jefferson and Huntington over the weekend of Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 as the Long Island Rail Road performs rail grinding work on that stretch of track. The work will affect customers who will be traveling between Huntington and Port Jefferson between the hours of 12:35 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. each day.

Eastbound
The 11:42 p.m., 1:42 a.m., 5:51 a.m., 7:22 a.m., 8:51 a.m., and 10:22 a.m. trains originating from Penn Station will terminate at Huntington Station where customers will board buses for all stations Greenlawn through Port Jefferson. Customers should allow up to 26 minutes additional travel time.

Westbound
The 4:44 a.m., 5:42 a.m., 7:08 a.m., 8:42 a.m., 10:08 a.m., 11:42 a.m. trains originating from Port Jefferson will be replaced by buses for all stations Stony Brook to Huntington. Customers will board buses up to 22 minutes later than normal at Huntington Station and will arrive up to 26 minutes later to their final destinations.
