Oyster Bay, NY - August 25, 2015 - Vans will replace trains between Locust Valley and Oyster Bay between 8 and 11 a.m. this coming Sunday, August 30, to accommodate the athletes and spectators of the annual Oyster Bay Triathlon. The LIRR expects that about 35 passengers will be affected by the service change.
Passengers bound for Oyster Bay who wish to board the train that is normally due into Oyster Bay at 9:46 a.m. (the train originates at Jamaica at 8:52 a.m. after receiving passengers from the 8:25 a.m. train from Penn Station and the 8:22 a.m. train from Atlantic Terminal) should ride the train to Locust Valley for transfer to a van. The train is due into Locust Valley at 9:35 a.m. The van, which is scheduled to depart Locust Valley at 9:45 a.m., will arrive at Oyster Bay at 10 a.m.
Passengers departing Oyster Bay who wish to board the trains that normally depart at 8:19 a.m. or 10:19 a.m. should instead board vans. The vans will depart at 8:38 a.m. and 10:38 a.m., respectively, and will take passengers directly to Mineola for transfer to train service to New York City or Long Island. The vans will also stop at any Oyster Bay Branch station upon request.
