Written by Chris Boyle  |  25. August 2023

The Third Squad reports the details of an Attempted Burglary that occurred on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 4:08 a.m. in Roslyn Heights.

According to detectives, the homeowner of a residence on Field Lane was awoken by a notification on her ring camera app that there was movement in her driveway. The female victim, 51, noticed there were four (4) unknown subjects in the rear of her home and she began to bang on her bedroom window to alert the subjects. They left the scene and fled northbound on Field Lane towards Club Drive in an unknown black SUV.

The investigation determined that four (4) subjects walked up to a 2020 white Mercedes truck that was parked in front the residence, and checked the vehicle’s door handles in attempt to gain access to the vehicle. When the subjects noticed the vehicle was locked, they then entered the rear yard and attempted gain entry through the back doors. No entry into vehicles or home and no proceeds were reported. The investigation is ongoing.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or to call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.

The Nassau County Police Department would like to remind all residents to lock their vehicles and their residence doors. This incident is a reminder that locked doors can help to prevent crimes.
