Overnight Closures on Sunrise Highway (State Route 27) at Hospital Road in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that both directions of Sunrise Highway (State Route 27) at Exit 54 (Hospital Road) in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County will be closed beginning on Monday, August 28 for approximately three weeks, weather permitting, to facilitate a bridge replacement project.

Westbound lanes will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and eastbound lanes will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Traffic will be detoured on the Service Road during those times.

Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones.  Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
