2013 September 11th Memorial Ceremonies & Events on Long Island
It has only been 12 years since the terrorist attacks took place in NYC at the World Trade Center. Many people lost loved ones and the country will never forget what happened to the nearly 3,000 people on September 11th, 2001.
As we still heal from what happened in 2001, many organizations have created monuments and memorials to those who were lost in the World Trade Center. The best known memorial is the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. Although the museum is not opened yet, visitors can reserve a time online to visit the memorial while they work on construction. You can visit the twin reflecting pools with the large manmade waterfalls. The names of every person who died in 2001 and 1993 bombing are inscribed along the pools.
It is expected to be very busy in Manhattan on 9/11 where they will read all the names of those who died, but you do not have to go to the city to commemorate the lives of those we have lost. Here are a few locations where we can honor, remember, and reflect on what happened 12 years ago:

- Commerative Presentation of 9/11 Sculptures - Glen Cove - 6:30PM
- The Seaford High School 9/11 Candle Lighting Memorial Ceremony - Seaford - 7:00PM
9/11 is a day that has had a lasting effect on all New Yorkers in some way.
