Ten People Arrested at Sobriety Checkpoint

The Suffolk County Police Department, assisted by the New York State Police and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, arrested ten motorists during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Huntington Station. The multi-agency checkpoint was part of an ongoing enforcement crackdown targeting alcohol and drug impaired driving leading up to the Labor Day weekend.  

Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau conducted a joint operation sobriety checkpoint with New York State Troopers and Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs at the corner of New York Avenue and Church Street, at 11:20 p.m. to 2 a.m. A total of 293 vehicles went through the checkpoint. 

The following people were arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated:

  • Courtni Halegua Hale, 48, of 11 Klarman Court, Huntington Station
  • Gino Marino, 39, of 481 Pulaski Road, Greenlawn
  • Steven Rodriguez, 25, of 5 Somers Court, Farmingville
  • Christopher Farinacci, 47, of 7 Lauren Ave. South, Dix Hills
  • Carlos Chavez Gomez, 26, of 74 West 11th St., Huntington Station
  • Ariana Echevarria, 32, of 54 Dorchester Road, Smithtown
  • William Pipota, 43, of 15 Caldwell St., Huntington Station
  • Jack Blakley, 24, of 8 Highpoint Drive, Huntington

Paul Friedman, 58, of 23 Sinclair Drive, Greenlawn, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.

The above individuals will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 27.

Additionally, James Conquest, 48, of 38 Sweetberry Ave., Center Moriches, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired and was given an appearance ticket to be arraigned in court on a future date.

A criminal charge is an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
