Officials drew the names of 20 applicants in a lottery for the opportunity to purchase a new, affordable condominium at Country Pointe Meadows in Yaphank. The lottery was performed at Brookhaven Town Hall on Tuesday, August 27th for homes being offered for sale to eligible households that earn 80 percent or less of the area median income.
The homes available to lower income families at Country Pointe Meadows at Yaphank are being offered through the cooperative efforts of Beechwood Yaphank LLC., the Town of Brookhaven and the Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP). The condos feature two bedrooms and one bath.
According to the LIHP website, the projected subsidized purchase price of the homes is estimated to be $223,250, subject to the availability of subsidies at the time of purchase and closing.

In a statement about the lottery, Brookhaven Supervisor Edward P. Romaine gave his thanks to LIHP and and Beechwood Yaphank LLC for helping to make home ownership a reality for those who might otherwise not be able to afford it.
“Brookhaven Town code ensures all housing developments must have at least 10 percent of its units dedicated to providing workforce or affordable housing, and this makes it easier for hard working families to remain on Long Island,” said Romaine.
