A groundbreaking ceremony for the planned Winters Center for Autism took place in West Babylon recently.

According to a statement released by the Town of Babylon about the event, the 14,000 square-foot facility will be located near the Winters Brothers Waste Systems building and other key Town of Babylon businesses, giving participants the ability to take part in vocational training and community-based work. The center’s proximity to a fitness center will also give attendees the opportunity to partake in exercise classes and explore personal training opportunities.

The Winters Center for Autism was established in 2019 by Joe Winters and his wife Michele. Joe Winters, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Winters Bros. Joe and his wife, Michele, along with the entire Winters family are strong advocates for high-quality services and opportunities for individuals with autism. Joe and Michele’s son, Sean Winters, is impacted by autism, which affects 1 in 54 children in the U.S.
