St. Joseph's College Ranked as National "Best Bang for the Buck" College
Brooklyn / Patchogue, NY - September 1, 2016 - St. Joseph’s College (SJC) was ranked by Washington Monthly as 7th in this year’s list of 386 “Best Bang for the Buck” colleges in the Northeast, making it the highest ranked college in New York. This ranking also marked the first time SJC joined the regional top 10, as it was 31st in the Northeast for 2015. In addition, the College was ranked in the top 70 in the nation for Master’s Universities.
“Once again, St. Joseph’s College is proud to be ranked as one of America’s most affordable colleges,” said SJC President Jack P. Calareso, Ph.D. “We continue to provide a high quality education that is affordable for students each year. Our graduates receive a values-centered education and are properly equipped with both the knowledge and the experience to be successful in their chosen career field.”
Washington Monthly, a 45-year-old magazine located in Washington D.C., created the “Best Bang for the Buck” list four years ago to show which colleges and universities do the best job at offering low- to moderate-income students a marketable education at an affordable price. Of the 1,406 colleges and universities surveyed in the publication’s broad ranking, 386 made the official Northeast list.
To qualify for the list, colleges and universities were evaluated based on student social mobility, community service and academic research to tabulate an overall score.
