Girl Scouts Create Rock Garden in Memory of Covid-19 Victims

Written by Lon Cohen  |  03. September 2022

Members of Girl Scout Troop 3200 from Manorville unveiled a commemorative rock garden they built at Neville Park in Center Moriches recently to commemorate the victims of Covid-19.

It was created as their Girl Scout Silver Award project to “commemorate the lives of the many we lost to the COVID 19 pandemic and bring comfort to those left behind.”

The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can achieve. It provides the chance to show that they are a leader who is organized, determined, and dedicated to improving their community.

Local businesses Bay Gardens, GP Landscape and Protech Cable generously donated the materials for the Rock Garden.

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine Councilman Dan Panico and Suffolk County Legislator Jim Mazzarella were at Neville Park on August 26 to thank the girls for constructing the rock garden.
