This forecast considered meteorological, fuel, and land conditions, and has been developed in coordination with NY, NJ, and CT fire and land management officials.

Betty Cater, 80, is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, and Resisting Arrest.

The First Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead woman for an incident that occurred on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 1:43 PM in Roosevelt.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to an E Clinton Avenue residence to investigate a complaint. Upon arrival, officers met with the Defendant Betty Cater, 80, of 65 Ingraham Boulevard. During the course of the investigation, the defendant became irate, struck an officer in the face with a closed fist and scratched him on the neck causing substantial pain, bruising and a laceration.
 
While officers attempted to place the defendant into custody, she continued being combative and resisted arrest. The defendant was arrested and the injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. 
 
Defendant Betty Cater is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, and Resisting Arrest. She will be arraigned on Monday, September 2, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
