AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Eric Lindemann of Holbrook, 33, allegedly veered off the roadway and onto the shoulder, hitting Amanullah Aman of Ronkonkoma, 64, cops say.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he struck and killed a pedestrian outside of the victim’s Ronkonkoma home.
 
Eric Lindemann was driving a 2018 Kia southbound on Ocean Avenue when he veered off the roadway and onto the shoulder, striking Amanullah Aman outside of his residence, located on Ocean Avenue, at approximately 11:40 a.m.
 
Aman, 64, was transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
 
Major Case Unit detectives charged Lindemann, 33, of Holbrook, with Driving While Intoxicated. Lindemann was held overnight and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
